Success of internet ads 'easily measured'

Companies that use online marketing approaches may discover exactly how their campaigns are going, sources recently stated.
Senior Manager and new media expert Eva Berg-Winters, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, spoke about how the economic recession requires firms to have more accountability regarding spending.
Ms. Winters stressed that it has become imperative for marketing departments to recognize just how wisely a company's budget is being used.
Advertising online is unparalleled, compared to other media outlets, especially when it comes to fiscal responsibility, she added.
"With, what is known as 'search spend' one can easily see the amount of clicks a webpage has received and the number of people coming through or even purchasing products. This gives room for improvement, and also greater chance of success with this form of advertising," Ms. Berg-Winters said.
With television ads, she added, it may be possible to gauge the number of consumers who "may" have seen the advert.
However, these forms of internet marketing campaigns create distinction between ad spend and sales, which simplifies things for companies.
This information comes to us after figures recently released from eMarketer speculated that online ad spending is probable to rise by 0.8 per cent by Christmas.
Also included, internet advertising is projected to claim nearly one-fifth of all marketing budgets in all the UK.
